My friends Magan and Darrell recently registered for wedding gifts. Being adults in their early 30’s, they don’t really have a lot of need for household items. So Magan did some research and registered on honeyfund.com. My only regret is that I didn’t know about this when I got married a couple of years ago.
The first thing you need to know is the service is completely free. FREE! Gotta love that. But for a nominal upgrade fee of $29 you can do more customizing to your site and prevent ads from appearing.
Through the site you can create a customized wedding information page complete with your own honeyfund.com URL. You can create gift items and you break them up into reasonable amounts and enter the quantity you need. For instance if your airfare is $750.00 you can request 10 increments of $75 each. What a great way to provide gift amounts for every budget! You could even do a Down Payment for a house! I would have LOVED that option!
Also available are printable registry cards and customizable e-mails…though I would only send these to your closest friends. Payments are always made to you, not through the site. You can suggest guests send checks or cash or make a payment directly to your PayPal account (but keep in mind there may be a fee connected with using PayPal).
The site also makes it easy to track your gifts – and guests can see how close you are to achieving your goals. And you can keep track of your thank you notes sent!
Obviously you can still register at Target, Macy’s or wherever you want – but is there any reason to NOT set up a honeyfund page? I can’t think of one.
