The Glovers

It's only been a couple of days and I already have photos from Thomas Meredith Photography!

What a wonderful way to spend Father’s Day!  This past Sunday I spent the day at Chateau Bellevue in downtown Austin, officiating and coordinating for Lana Hoskins and Robert Glover.

Lana and I first met about two months ago.  We immediately hit it off – she felt like an old friend almost instantly.  And the feeling must have been mutual because she booked me right there at the meeting!  At the time, she was only looking for a Day of Coordinator – at the suggestion of her venue.  Then a couple of weeks ago during our planning session she decided to add my officiating services as well.  I’m so glad she did!

The wedding party was small with Lana’s sister in a short, one shouldered cocktail dress in a lovely aqua blue/teal color and Robert’s brother in a tuxedo with blue tie. The Groom wore a classic tuxedo with an ivory tie – the Bride wore a simple sheath gown with a chiffon bolero jacket.  Lana also wore jewelry made by her mother.

In spite of the heat, we held the ceremony outside in the courtyard.  And it was HOT!  Luckily it was only a 15 minute ceremony and we all survived. The alter was flanked on either side by large arrangements created by Exquisite Petals of white gladiolas and roses (which we later moved inside to the DJ).  It was simple – fairly traditional with two readings.  The first was a poem written by the Groom for his lovely Bride.  The second was “somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond” by e.e.cummings.  Both read by Robert’s sisters. Following the ceremony, guests were invited upstairs for cocktails while we finished photos with the family.  I was prepared with a long, organized list so we worked through the photos pretty quickly.

The reception was held in the ballroom.  With a venue this gorgeous, you want to keep the centerpieces simple but lovely – we didn’t want to compete with it!  Each table had a mirror upon which we had a pillar candle sitting on colored stones and surrounded by green and blue votives with a few colored glass stones scattered about.

The cake, by Austin Cake Studio was a delicious chocolate with white frosting decorated by a simple leaf motif mimicking the invitation design.  At the last-minute, Lana decided to add a cake topper she found and couldn’t resist.

Music was provided by Kirk McDow of Austin Sound Machine.  I feel it safe to say the guests had a wonderful time – we actually had to ask them to leave (even after the music stopped)!

Lana and Robert – thank you for choosing me to be a part of your wedding day.  I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness.

Be Carefree,

Suzanne
