…cake? If that makes you want to say blech, you are not alone. With one cake, you are often limited to the flavor (maybe one per tier – but it will cost you) – and how can you decide? I’m finding more couples moving away from a giant traditional wedding cake for a plethora of reasons. Luckily there are several alternatives for couples looking for something a little different.
Back in October I had a couple that opted to have a dessert table. They bought cakes and pies from their favorite restaurants and bakeries, and asked some family members to bring a few samples of beloved family recipes. This Cajun bride also had a croque-en-bouche – a traditional French dessert. This is what the couple used for the cake cutting photos.
Still like the tradition of cutting the cake? Why not have a faux cake made? You can have one tier that is real for the cutting – and you can serve that to the guests that just have to have cake.
Cupcakes are a popular alternative to cakes – and in Austin Hey Cupcake! is the place to get them. They enable you to have a variety of flavors and are really easy to serve. Provide small bags or boxes for your guests to take home the leftovers!
Another option gaining popularity? Cake Balls! These delicious bite-size morsels of cake are AH-MAZE-ING! Austin Cake Balls specializes in these little goodies and the flavors available are too numerous to list. I’ve never met a person that doesn’t love them.
Of course last week I introduced you to The Pie Society. This new kid on the block is the alternative for those that are truly anti-cake. Not only are they an excellent addition to the dessert table but with her savory flavors they are a fabulous cocktail hour option.
If you and your betrothed don’t love cake – don’t force it on yourselves! Make your wedding your own, including the
cake dessert table!
