Today’s post is a little late because I wanted to wait to tell you about my wedding this morning. This was a destination wedding for Melina and Mark as they currently live in North Carolina – and many of their guests were from out-of-town as well.
The ceremony and reception were held on the lawn at The Four Seasons in downtown Austin. The sky was a little overcast but we all agreed that was a good thing! Even so, the temperature was edging close to 70 – and trust me, that can be a lot hotter than you think.
This was a small, intimate wedding – Mark had only a Best Man (his father) and Melina’s bridesmaids were her two sisters. The ladies wore short, strapless dresses in a spring green that were perfect on their small frames (did I mention the bride and her sister’s are pocket people?). And both sisters had different bouquets, rather than the same – I thought this was an especially nice touch.
Melina is my first short dress bride which was perfect for a morning wedding. The dress was a white, strapless knee-length with a full skirt and had white abstract flowers attached all over. Her hair was pulled back on the sides with a large white flower.
The groom, his father, and Melina’s father all wore matching light brown suits with both fathers in matching striped ties. Mark wore a green tie with white polka dots. The mood, was relaxed and casual.
The ceremony was around 12 minutes and included two readings. Mark’s sister read The Passionate Shepherd to his Love by Christopher Marlowe and Melina’s cousin read The Prophet on Marriage by Khalil Gibran. A friend of their’s sang the recessional song “Better Together”. After the ceremony, guests were invited to enjoy mimosas on the lawn while the bride and groom took photos.
What a wonderful way to start the day! Melina and Mark, I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness.
