I’ll go on a limb and say 90% of brides are excited to plan every aspect of their wedding day. And 90% of grooms dread it. Don’t take it personally if your groom falls in that 90%.
It doesn’t mean he loves you less or doesn’t care about how romantic and magical your wedding day is. Maybe it means he knows how important the day is to you and he doesn’t want to ruin your vision with his opinion. That and he probably can’t tell the difference between white and ecru.
Too often I see the groom dragged to a planning session and all he does is sit there and occasionally nod. I think it is wonderful if you have a groom that is truly involved in the planning process – just don’t force it (see How to not be a Bridezilla).
Ask him if he wants to be involved but be prepared for the answer. And don’t be afraid to incorporate his ideas into your wedding. Maybe he really wants to wear blue suede shoes or have a bleeding armadillo groom’s cake. Those touches of his personality will make the wedding more you. And you might be surprised to learn those off-beat touches were your favorite parts of your wedding.
